In his natural “physical” state, Domo is a noncorporeal being.  Basically, electromagnetic in composition.  He is able to carry out his duties due to the development of a revolutionary exoskeleton of his own design.  Without it, not only can he not interact with the carbon-based world, but his is a danger to humanoid lifeforms.  He has worked very hard to refine his exoskeleton into a more humanoid appearance.

Shadrach Domo, once a Medusan diplomat, always longed to see the stars.  He made that dream come true, eventually, by developing an exoskeleton and joining Starfleet.  He did so by winning an offworld competition, as his homeworld would not sponsor him.

He has served, in various capacities in Starfleet for the past 18 years.  The majority of that time was spent in ground assignments.  Much of that work is still classified.

He traded the secrets to his exoskeleton for a space duty assignment, as the Starfleet Marine Corps was highly interested in his designs.

Domo is very evolved.  His exact age is not known, but he is believed to be over 80 standard Earth years old.  He exudes a wisdom and maturity rarely seen in most individuals.

Mature, sensible, and even-tempered, he is enthusiastic about engineering and science, and the wonders of the galaxy.

Chief Domo is the first and, to date, only Medusan to join Starfleet.  It is the Domo-designed exoskeleton that served as the model for the super-sophisticated “encounter suits” worn by the Space Marines for heavy ops.

A former researcher and Academy instructor, he has published numerous papers on the fields of engineering, gravitics and robotics.  He holds a Ph.D. and several related masters degrees in Astronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and related fields.

Domo is not a Space Marine, he is actually a member of the Starfleet Marine Corps of Engineers.  Both he, and his staff, are on loan to the RRTs on a rather permanent basis.  The senior engineer in the 81st, he is a warrant officer, not directly in the chain of command.  He prefers to concentrate on his specialty area.
